The famous Manhattan landmark was the East Coast locale for the first simultaneous gathering of East and West Coast Academy members in nearly four decades. East Coast members often met for "unofficial" Academy Awards viewing parties prior to 1990, often at the Russian Tea Room.
Makeup became a regular Academy Award category in 1981; the first official Oscar« recipient was honored for
